Marie-Theres Federhofer

Marie-Theres Federhofer (* 1962 ) is a literary scholar . She lives and works in Tromsø in Norway .

Live and act

Marie-Theres Federhofer is the daughter of Hellmut Federhofer and Renate Federhofer-Königs . After training as a publishing bookseller , she studied philosophy and comparative literature at the Free University of Berlin and at the Nouvelle Sorbonne in Paris and graduated in 1991 with an MA. In 1999, she was with a thesis on Johann Heinrich Merck at the University of Tromsø Dr. phil. PhD .

Since 2008 she has been Professor of German Literature and Cultural Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Teacher Training at Tromsø University. Her main research interests are amateurism in art and science as well as the history of science of the 18th and 19th centuries.

From 2012 to 2014 she was head of the Steering Committee Norway of the German-Norwegian Study Center at Kiel University . Since October 2018 she has held the Henrik Steffens visiting professorship at the Northern Europe Institute of the Humboldt University in Berlin .
