Valgerd Svarstad Haugland (born August 23, 1956 in Kvam , Hordaland ) is a Norwegian politician of the Kristelig Folkeparti (KrF).

The trained teacher is married and has two children. From 1993 to 2005 she was a member of parliament in Storting , where she represented the constituency of Akershus . She was party chairman from 1995 to 2004. She was the deputy chairwoman from 1991. From 1998 to 2005 she was Vice President of the Christian Democratic World Association of Christian Democratic International (CDI).

In the Bondevik I government , she was minister for children and families from 1997 to 2000 , briefly as minister of culture in 2001 and again as minister of culture and church from 2002 to 2005.

In 2011 she was appointed Fylkesmann in Oslo and Akershus . By merging various provinces, their area of ​​responsibility expanded to Oslo and Viken in 2019 .
