Laila Dåvøy
Laila Dåvøy (born August 11, 1948 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian Christian Democratic politician . She was Norwegian Minister from 1999 to 2005.
education and profession
Dåvøy is a trained nurse. As such, she worked in various hospitals from 1970. From 1992 to 1998 she was head of the Norwegian Nursing Association.
Political career
From 1983 to 1987 Dåvøy was a member of Askøy's local parliament . In 1989 she became the personal secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Churches, before being promoted to State Secretary in August 1990. However, she only held office until November 1990, when there was a change of government.
On March 15, 1999, she was appointed Minister of Labor and Local Authority in the Bondevik I government. She left office with the end of the government on March 17, 2000. In the Bondevik II government , she was minister for children and families from October 19, 2001 to October 17, 2005 .
Dåvøy moved into the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , for the first time in 2005 . There she represented the province of Hordaland in two legislative terms until 2013 . In the last six months of her time as a Member of Parliament, from March 2013, she was the fifth Vice-President of Parliament.
