Victor Danielsen Norman (born July 24, 1946 in Risør ) is a Norwegian economist , social economist and politician of the Høyre .

Life

After attending school, he studied economics and in 1971 was first appointed associate professor for shipping economics at the Norwegian School of Commerce (NHH). After earning a doctorate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1972, he accepted a professorship for economics there and has been professor of social economics at the NHH since 1975 .

In addition to his teaching activities, he carried out several research projects on the international economy and was chairman of a commission for the promotion of effectiveness potential in the public sector from 1990 to 1991 . After he was Vice Rector of the NHH from 1990 to 1992 , he took over the post of Rector of the Norwegian Business School from 1999 to 2001 .

On October 19, 2001, Norman, who is a member of Høyre, was appointed by Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik as Minister of Labor and Administration in his second cabinet and was active as such until June 18, 2004. During this time his wife Christine Benedichte Meyer , who also teaches at the NHH, worked as State Secretary in the Ministry of Labor and Administration.
