Hilde Frafjord Johnson (born October 29, 1963 in Arusha , Tanzania ) is a Norwegian Christian Democratic politician .

Origin and education

She comes from a Christian missionary family and grew up in Africa . Then she studied anthropology .

Political career

From 1986 to 1987 Hilde Frafjord Johnson was deputy chairwoman of the youth organization Kristelig Folkepartis Ungdom . In 1989 she worked as a consultant in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs . In 1993 she moved into the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , for the first time . There she represented the Rogaland Province until 2001 .

On October 17, 1997, she was appointed Minister of Development. At that time, this office was located in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She remained minister until the end of the Bondevik I government on March 17, 2000. From October 19, 2001 to October 17, 2005, she was again Minister for Development in the Bondevik II government .

Between 2006 and 2007, Johnson served as an advisor to the African Development Bank. From 2007 to 2011 she was Vice-Chair of UNICEF . From 2011 to July 7, 2014, she headed the UNMISS peace mission in South Sudan.

In March 2016, she took up her position as General Secretary of the KrF , a position that she held until September 1, 2019. She announced her resignation from the post after the party vote in favor of the KrF joining the government.
