Dag Jostein Fjærvoll

Dag Jostein Fjærvoll (born January 20, 1947 in Hadsel ) is a Norwegian politician of the Kristelig Folkeparti (KrF). He was Minister of Defense from October 1997 to March 1999, and then Minister of Transport until March 2000 .

Life

Fjærvoll completed his teacher training in Oslo in 1970 . He then worked from 1970 to 1983 as a teacher and school inspector in Melbu . Between 1975 and 1985 he was a member of Hadsel's municipal parliament, and from 1979 to 1983 he was the mayor of the municipality.

From 1981 to 1984 he was the chairman of the KrF in the province of Nordland . In the 1985 general election, he first moved into the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , where he represented Nordland until 1997. On October 17, 1997, he was appointed Minister of Defense in the Bondevik I government. On March 15, 1999, he moved to the Ministry of Transport . He held his post as Minister of Transport until the departure of the government on March 17, 2000. From 2001 to 2006 he was the director of the Vesterålen University Center .
