Magnhild Meltveit Kleppa (born November 12, 1948 in Fister , Rogaland ) is a Norwegian politician of the Senterpartiet (Sp)

education and profession

Kleppa studied teaching in Kristiansand and Stavanger . From 1967 to 1992 she taught at various schools.

Political career

Between 1979 and 1983 and between 1985 and 1987 she was a member of the local parliament of Hjelmeland . From 1991 to 1993 she sat in the Fylkesting of Rogaland. Kleppa then represented the province in the national parliament as a member of the Storting until 2013 . From 2001 to 2005 she was chair of the local council. Then she was parliamentary group leader of the Sp.

From 1997 to 2000 she was Minister of Social Affairs in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, from 2007 to 2009 Local and Regional Minister and from 2009 to 2012 Minister of Transport . In 2013 she was appointed Fylkesmann in Rogaland.

Kleppa already held various party offices. From 1987 to 1990 she was chairwoman of the Senterpartiet in her home province. Later she was second deputy chairwoman of the Sp at state level between 1991 and 1997.
