Kåre Gjønnes
Kåre Gjønnes (born January 30, 1942 in Orkdal ) is a Norwegian politician of the Christian Democratic Kristelig Folkeparti (KrF). From 1997 to 2000 he was Norway's Minister of Agriculture.
Political career
Gjønnes was from 1971 to 1972 chairman of the youth organization Kristelig Folkepartis Ungdom (KrFU) in the former province of Sør-Trøndelag . Between 1973 and 1974 he was a member of the board of directors of the KrFU at state level. From 1975 to 1976 he was a member of the board of the KrF in Sør-Trøndelag.
From 1971 to 1985 he was a member of Orkdal's local parliament. From 1979 to 1983 he was the mayor. From 1975 to 1985 Gjønnes was also a member of the Fylkesting of Sør-Trøndelag. From 1985 until 1993 he represented his province in the Norwegian parliament, the Storting . In the legislative period from 1989 he was the parliamentary group leader of his party. In 1993 he took up the post of Fylkesmann in Sør-Trøndelag. In 1997 he was exempted because he was appointed Minister of Agriculture to the Bondevik I government on October 17, 1997 . He held this post until the end of the government on March 17, 2000. He then returned to his post as Fylkesmann, which he held until 2011.
