Lars Peder Brekk (born October 8, 1955 in Vikna ) is a Norwegian politician ( Senterpartiet ). He was the Minister of Agriculture and Food of his country from June 2008 to June 2012. In 2000 he was Minister for Fisheries from January to March 2000 .

Life

Lars Peder Brekk studied economics at the University of Oslo until 1982 . In 1985 he was personal secretary in the Ministry of Fisheries. From 1992 to 1997 he was mayor of Vikna, from 1997 to 1999 he was deputy mayor of the municipality. Between 1992 and 1995 Brekk sat in the fylkesting of the former province of Nord-Trøndelag . From 1993 to 1997 and from 2003 to 2011 he was deputy chairman of the Senterpartiet.

Between January 21 and March 17, 2000 he was Minister of Fisheries in the Bondevik I government . After three terms as deputy , he was elected directly to the Storting for the first time in 2005 for the Senterpartiet in Nord-Trøndelag . From 2005 to 2007 he was chairman of the economic committee.

From June 20, 2008 to June 18, 2012 he was Minister for Agriculture and Food in the Stoltenberg II government . Then he switched to the parliamentary group chairmanship. In 2013 he left Parliament and became director of the Brønnøysundregistrene central database register .
