Life

Audun Lysbakken began to get involved in politics as early as 1995. In his native Bergen, he was a member of the board of directors of the organizations Ungdom mot EU ( German : Youth against EU ) and Natur og Ungdom (German: Nature and Youth ). After attending the commercial high school in Bergen, he studied French and political science at the University of Bergen between 1996 and 1998 and was also a member of the student parliament from 1998 to 1999 . During his studies, Lysbakken was chairman of the youth organization Sosialistisk Ungdom (SU), the SV youth association in Bergen . From 1998 to 2000 he held this post in the province of Hordaland . He was also a member of the Bergen City Council between 1999 and 2000.

After doing his community service and working as secretary of the Norwegian Ecological Agricultural League "Norsk Økologisk Landbrukslag" (NØLL), he worked from 2000 to 2001 as a journalist for Klassekampen , a left-leaning daily newspaper . At the same time he was deputy state chairman of the SU between 2000 and 2002.

2001 Lysbakken ran in Hordaland for the Sosialistisk Venstreparti and won a seat of parliament in Storting . He was then a member of the Budget Committee. In 2005 he missed re-election. He was able to return to parliament in 2009, but suspended his mandate after he was appointed Minister for Children, Equality and Integration in the Jens Stoltenberg II government on October 20, 2009 .

Lysbakken announced his resignation on March 5, 2012 after a long-standing illegal practice in the allocation of funds by his ministry became known. This made Lysbakken an ordinary member of parliament again.

Since 2006 Lysbakken has been the deputy chairman of the SV. An extraordinary party congress elected him on March 10, 2012, despite his resignation as minister as party chairman. He received 92.8% of the delegate votes. Since 2012 he has also held the post of parliamentary group leader of his party.
