Sylvia Brustad (born December 19, 1966 in Elverum ) is a Norwegian politician of the social democratic labor party . From 2005 to 2009 she was Minister in Jens Stoltenberg's second cabinet .

education and profession

After graduating from high school ( examen artium ) in 1983, she studied in 1985 for a year at the Volkshochschule of the labor movement in Ringsaker . From 1987 to 1989 she worked as a journalist for the trade union paper LO-aktuelt and the social democratic weekly newspaper Aktuelt Perspektiv . Since autumn 2013, Brustad has held a leading position in Aker Solutions , in whose main shareholder Aker Holding AS the Norwegian state holds a 30 percent stake.

Public offices

Brustad was a member of the Provincial Assembly ( Fylkesting ) of Hedmark from 1987 to 1989 . From 1989 to 2009 she was a member of the Storting for Hedmark . Sylvia Brustad was Minister for Children and Family in Thorbjørn Jagland's cabinet from 1996 to 1997 . She was minister of municipalities and regions in the first cabinet of Jens Stoltenberg of March 17, 2000 from 17 October 2005 to 20 October 2009 was to 19 October 2001. They minister in the second cabinet Stoltenberg, initially for Health and Welfare , from June 20, 2008 for economy and trade. From 2010 to 2013 she worked as Fylkesmann von Hedmark.
