Bjørn Tore Godal
Bjørn Tore Godal (born January 20, 1945 in Skien ) is a Norwegian social democratic politician and diplomat .
He studied political science, sociology and history and was between 1964 and 1965 chairman of the youth party Arbeidernes Ungdomsfylking (AUF). Godal was a member of the Norwegian Parliament ( Storting ) from 1986 to 2001. From 1991 to 1994 Godal was Minister for Trade and Shipping, from 1994 to 1997 Norwegian Foreign Minister and from 2000 to 2001 Norwegian Defense Minister . From 2003 to 2007 he was the Norwegian ambassador in Berlin . After that he was special advisor for international energy and climate issues in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2010.
He is married to Gro Balas .
