Hanne Harlem

Hanne Harlem (born November 20, 1964 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap) and lawyer. She was Minister of Justice in the Jens Stoltenberg I government .

Life

Hanne Harlem is the daughter of the former Minister Gudmund Harlem and the younger sister of the former Norwegian Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland . In 1990 she finished her law studies.

Between 1983 and 1987, Harlem was a city councilor in Oslo. From 1991 to 1993 she was a member of the Oslo City Council ( Byråd ), where she was responsible for children and education. From 1993 to 1999 she worked in various positions as a lawyer. On March 17, 2000, she was appointed Minister of Justice. She held the post until the end of the government on October 19, 2001.

From 2004 to 2007 Harlem directed the University of Oslo . From 2011 she was a lawyer for the Oslo municipality. On February 3, 2020, she took up her position as a so-called civil ombudsman . Your task in this position is to investigate complaints made by citizens against the public administration. She is the first woman to hold this position.
