Grete Knudsen

Grete Knudsen (born October 13, 1940 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). She was both the social, trade and economic minister of her country.

education

Knudsen is a trained teacher with additional training for students with behavioral problems. From 1963 to 1980 she worked as a teacher in various schools in the Bergen area.

Political career

Grete Knudsen first moved into the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , in 1981 . There she represented the province of Hordaland until 2001 . From 1997 to 2000 she headed the Parliament's Church, Education and Research Committee. In the years 1990 to 1992 and from 1997 to 2000 she was also a member of the parliamentary committee of her party.

Knudsen was State Secretary in the Ministry of Churches and Education from 1979 to 1981 . Between September 1992 and January 1994 she was Minister of Social Affairs. From January 1994 until October 1996 she was responsible for the trade department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She then held the post of Minister of Economic Affairs until October 1997. In the Jens Stoltenberg I government , she was again Minister of Economic Affairs from March 2000 to October 2001.

Between 1984 and 1986 she was the leader of her party in Hordaland. From 1998 and 2002 she was on the board of Ap.

In 2013 she published the controversial book Basketak , in which she criticized various politicians of her own party.
