Jagland Government
The Jagland government formed the government of Norway from October 25, 1996 to October 17, 1997 . After Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland ( Workers' Party ) resigned for personal reasons, the AP party leader Thorbjørn Jagland formed a new government. The government consisted exclusively of members of the Workers' Party (AP), which had 67 out of 165 seats in parliament.
After the Labor Party missed the target set by Jagland of 36.9% (the vote in the 1993 election) with 35.0% in the 1997 parliamentary elections , Jagland resigned. Kjell Magne Bondevik ( Christian People's Party ) formed a minority government together with the Center Party and the Liberals .
