Anne Holt
Anne Holt (born November 16, 1958 in Larvik ) is a Norwegian lawyer, crime writer and former Justice Minister of her country.
Life
Anne Holt studied law and for some time worked as a police lawyer and attorney . From October 25, 1996 to February 4, 1997, the Social Democrat was Norway's Minister of Justice in Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland's cabinet . Her career as an author began in the early 1990s , and she wrote two of her detective novels together with her former State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Berit Reiss-Andersen . Like one of her main characters, Commissioner Hanne Wilhelmsen, she lives in a registered partnership with her wife, the writer and publisher Tine Kjær.
In the Guardian interview, she named the character of Detective Mary Beth Lacey (played by Tyne Daly ) from the US television series Cagney & Lacey as a key trigger to effectively think about her own crime series with a female protagonist . She also presented her top 10 historical female detective characters.
In her novel A Cold Fall (Piper 2017) she describes how much a European country can change negatively when the population feels deeply affected by Islamist terror. The complex plot takes place almost three years after the Breivik attacks .
