Berit Reiss-Andersen (born July 11, 1954 in Drøbak ) is a Norwegian lawyer, author and politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap).

Life

Reiss-Andersen is the granddaughter of the Norwegian writer Gunnar Reiss-Andersen . She graduated in 1981, the Law on. From 1987 she worked as a lawyer. From 1996 to 1997 she was State Secretary in the Norwegian Ministry of Justice under Justice Minister Anne Holt . Together with Holt, she published two detective novels. In 2002 she started working as a defense attorney at the Supreme Court of Norway . From 2008 to 2012 she was the chairman of the Norwegian Bar Association ( Den Norske Advokatforening ).

After being nominated by the Arbeiderpartiet , Reiss-Andresen has been a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee , which awards the Nobel Peace Prize , since 2012 . In 2017 she became the chair of the committee.
