Drøbak

Drøbak is a village on the east bank of the Oslofjord in Norway . It is the administrative center for the municipality of Frogn in Viken and has 13,006 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012).

First and foremost, Drøbak is important for tourism. There are many picturesque houses in the city, as well as art galleries and small shops. There is also a Christmas post office there .

The German heavy cruiser Blücher was sunk near Drøbak on the morning of April 9, 1940. As part of the Weser Exercise company , the ship transported soldiers with the aim of taking Oslo . The sinking gave King Haakon and the government the necessary time to leave Oslo with the Norwegian gold reserve .
