Gunnar Andersen (born March 18, 1890 in Drøbak , Viken , † April 25, 1968 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian football player and ski jumper . In both sports he competed for the Lyn Oslo club .

Career

Soccer

From 1911 to 1924 he played 46 international football matches for Norway, 37 of them as captain; however, he did not score a single goal. It was not until June 16, 1918 that he was able to win the first ever victory with the Norwegian team; in Oslo, Norway beat arch rivals Denmark with Andersen in the squad. At the Summer Olympics in Stockholm in 1912 and Antwerp in 1920 , he was part of the team and was also on the field as captain in the then sensational 3-1 win of the Norwegians against England in 1920. However, it was not enough for a medal in both competitions.

Ski jumping

In ski jumping, Andersen set a new world record of 47 meters on Gustadbakken in Modum in 1912 .

In 1918 he was the first athlete to be awarded the Egebergs Ærespris .
