The Cappelen Prize (original Norsk: Cappelenprisen ) was a Norwegian literary prize for Norwegian-speaking writers, which was first awarded in 1979 by the book publisher JW Cappelens Forlag .

history

The prize was introduced on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the publishing house, and for its 175th anniversary in 2004 it was categorically expanded. In recent years it has been endowed with 50,000 crowns of prize money. Since the 2007 merger of Cappelens Forlag with the NW Damm & Søn publishing house to form the new Cappelen Damm publishing house , this longstanding literary award has not been continued.
