Lars Saabye Christensen
Lars Saabye Christensen (born September 21, 1953 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian writer of Danish-Norwegian origin.
Life
Saabye Christensen, who has Danish citizenship through his father, grew up in Oslo, but mostly lived in Sortland in the province of Nordland . Both places influenced his work as a writer and appear in his works. He studied Norwegian, literature, history of art and ideas. He made his debut in 1976 with the volume of poems Historien om Gly , for which he was awarded the Tarjei Vesaas Debutant Prize. Saabye Christensen lives in Oslo with his wife Karna.

Saabye Christensen is best known for his novels, but he has also written poetry, dramas and scripts. In 1984 he made his breakthrough across Norway's borders with Yesterday , which received the award from the Norwegian publisher Cappelen. In 2001 his work The Half Brother received a literary award from the Nordic Council .
Saabye Christensen is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Language and Literature and Commander of the Order of Saint Olav (2006).
