Sar-i Pul (or Sar-e Pol ; Pashto / Dari :سرپل) is the capital of Sar-i Pul Province in northern Afghanistan . It is located in the Sar-i Pul district .

On August 8, 2021, Sar-i Pul was captured by the Taliban .

geography

Sar-i Pul is a mountain town, especially in the south. Three-quarters (75%) of the city is mountainous or semi-mountainous terrain, while one-seventh (14%) of the area is flatland.
