Vigdis Hjorth (born July 19, 1959 in Oslo , Norway ) is a Norwegian writer .

Life

Vigdis Hjorth grew up in the Norwegian capital Oslo. In 1983 she graduated in the history of ideas, political science and literature. In the same year she made her debut as a writer with the children's book Pelle-Ragnar i den gule gården . Her follow-up novel Jørgen + Anne er sant , which was translated into German under the title Tilla loves Philipp , was filmed in 2011 under the title Anne loves Philipp . In addition to German, her books have also been translated into Danish, Icelandic, Russian, Swedish and Ukrainian.

Hjorth has three children and lives in Nesøya , near Asker . She previously lived in Copenhagen , Bergen , Switzerland and France, among others . She was jailed for 30 days in 2009 after a traffic offense. She processed her experiences with the book Tredve dager i Sandefjord , published in 2011 . In Hjorth's "autofictional" novel Arv og miljø , which was published in 2016 and was awarded the Kritikerprisen and the Bokhandlerprisen in the same year , she suggested sexual abuse by her father, which led to a backlash from her younger sister, the lawyer Helga Hjorth, in 2017 in her debut novel Fri vilje, which was also issued as an autofictional, denied this.
