Georg Johannesen
Georg Johannesen (born February 22, 1931 in Bergen , † December 24, 2005 in Egypt ) was a Norwegian writer , translator , painter and politician . He wrote poetry and prose . In some cases he also published under the pseudonym Guri Johns .
Life
Johannesen studied literary history in Oslo . Among other things, he worked as a teacher. Johannesen was a communist and was a member of the Oslo City Council for the Sosialistisk Folkeparti . From 1973 he was a lecturer, later professor for rhetoric in Bergen. He died in 2005 while on vacation.
He made his debut as a writer in 1957 with the novel Høst i mars . He also wrote poems strongly influenced by Bertolt Brecht and a play, Kassandra , which was also influenced by Brecht and premiered in 1967. It is based on a comedy by Aristophanes . The volumes of poetry Ars Moriendi and Ars Vivendi have also been published in German .
Johannesen has been awarded a number of prizes. In 2000 he received the Norwegian Academy Award and in 1999 the Cappelen Award .
