Kolbein Falkeid

Kolbein Falkeid (born December 19, 1933 in Haugesund ; † June 27, 2021 ) was a Norwegian poet . He mainly wrote everyday poetry in the modernist tradition. His choice of motifs ranges from the local Vestland coast to Italy and Africa. His poems often express a global understanding and international solidarity.

Live and act

In 1962, Falkeid graduated from the University of Oslo with a degree in philosophy . From 1963 to 1966 he was a lecturer at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . For many years, Falkeid was a lecturer at Haugesund / Skeisvang Videregående Skole . Between 1973 and 1974 he received a grant from the Norwegian General Research Council ( Norges Allmenvitenskaplige Forskningsråd ). After his debut with the Norwegian publisher JW Cappelen, he published 25 books of fiction, which have been translated into 19 languages. From 1967 the author was a member of the Norwegian Writers' Association ( Den Norske Forfatterforening ). From 1990 Falkeid was a copywriter for the western Norwegian band Vamp . In 1998 he was the festival poet of the year during the festival in Bergen ( Festspillene i Bergen ). He died on June 27, 2021 at the age of 87.
