Fredrik Skagen
Fredrik Skagen (born December 30, 1936 in Trondheim ; † June 20, 2017 there ) was a Norwegian writer and university librarian .
Skagen's parents were grocer Rudolf Andreas Skagen (1905–1974) and Thyra Fredrikke Mortensen (1904–1998). In 1959, Skagen married the librarian and translator Eva Kristine Rønning (born December 31, 1937), daughter of Karl Rønning (1910–1999) and Greta Maria Blomquist (1907–1988).
Skagen grew up in Trondheim and spent most of his life there. He attended Statens bibliotekskole (State Library School) from 1960 to 1961 and worked as a librarian from 1961 to 1969 and then until 1975 as a university librarian at the Norges Tekniske Høgskole (NTH, Norwegian Technical University ) in Trondheim. In 1968 he published his first novel Jagten efter Auriga , which was followed by two more, before he started his full-time writing in 1976. Skagen also published children's books, short stories, radio plays and the film Purpurhjertene, based on his templates, about the fate of a Vietnamese soldier.
