Sissel Rønbeck

Sissel Marie Rønbeck (born May 24, 1950 in Hammerfest ) is a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap) and deputy director of the Institute for the Cultural Heritage of Norway ( Riksantikvaren ).

Political career

She was head of the youth organization Arbeidernes Ungdomsfylking (AUF) from 1975 to 1977. Rønbeck was already a member of its board from 1966. Between 1981 and 1993 she sat for the city of Oslo in the Norwegian parliament, the Storting . She was a member of parliament from 1977 to 1979, but as a representative for Gro Harlem Brundtland, which was part of the government . From 1985 to 1986 she chaired the Church and Education Committee. From 1985 to 1989 she was also a member of the Ap.

In 1979 she was appointed Minister in the Ministry of Consumers and Administration. She held this office until 1981. Between 1986 and 1989 she was Environment Minister . In 1996 she was reappointed Minister, this time as Minister of Transport . She held the post for a year until October 1997.

Between 1994 and 2011 she was a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee for the nomination of the Nobel Peace Prize winners .
