Oddrunn Pettersen

Oddrunn Pettersen (born March 5, 1937 in Hadsel ; † November 30, 2002 in Kirkenes ) was a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). In 1989 she was Minister of Consumption and Administration, and from 1990 to 1992 Minister of Fisheries in her country.

education and profession

Pettersen attended the public teachers' school in Tromsø , where she trained as a teacher. From 1958 she worked at a school in Berlevåg , where she initially taught without any corresponding training. In 1968 she became the head of the school.

Political career

From 1975 to 1979 Pettersen was a member of Berlevåg's local parliament. From 1975 to 1977 she was the mayor of the community.

In 1977 she moved into the Norwegian Parliament, the Storting , for the first time . There she consistently represented the province of Finnmark until 1993 . From 1978 to 1981 she was chairman of the municipal and environmental protection committee. Between 1985 and 1989 she headed the Parliament's Transport Committee. From 1985 to 1990 she was a member of her party's parliamentary group, from 1986 to 1989 as deputy chairwoman.

On April 28, 1989, she was appointed Minister in the Ministry of Consumers and Administration, which she remained for a few months until October 16, 1989. On November 3, 1990, she became a minister again, this time at the Ministry of Fisheries. She held her office as Minister of Fisheries until September 4, 1992. She was the first woman in Europe to hold this ministerial post.
