economy
The inhabitants live mainly from fishing and its products. There is also a mechanics workshop.
traffic
The Hurtigruten ships have only been docking in Berlevåg since 1975, as the port has only been protected by large tetrapods since then . The tetrapods weigh around 15 tons and can withstand waves 10 meters high. Nevertheless, the port of Berlevåg cannot be approached even today in heavy seas .
Until the opening of the new outer harbor, the passengers and the cargo were first brought ashore by expedition boat, then by fishing boat. A fishing boat with an engine was used from 1910 to 1929. From 1929 a special boat with 43 gross tons was put into operation. These boats were used until the outer harbor was completed in December 1974.
The berlevåg airport is located about three kilometers northwest of the village and can be reached from there by road Fv271.
In the village the road Fv890, according to a distance of around 135 kilometers at start Tana bru in the European Route 6 opens.
