Karasjok ( North Sami Kárášjohka ) is a Norwegian municipality in the province ( Fylke ) Troms og Finnmark .
geography
Karasjok is located in the Norwegian part of the Sami settlement area on the banks of the Karasjokka River . The municipality is located near the Finnish border and on European route 6 . Lake Iešjávri lies on the northern border .
In Karasjok, the lowest temperature ever recorded in Norway was recorded on January 1, 1886, at −51.4 ° C (−60.5 ° F).

Culture
Karasjok is the second center of the Norwegian Sami after Kautokeino . Here are the seats of the autonomous Sami Parliament ( Sámediggi ) and the regional Sami language broadcaster of the Norwegian radio Sámiradio as well as the "Sápmi Culture Park", a culture and experience museum . There is also the Samiske Samlinger, a museum for Sami culture, and the Sami Kunstnersenter, the center for Sami artists.
