Inga Ravna Eira ( North Sami: Iŋgos-Máhte Iŋgá ; born May 30, 1948 in Kárášjohka (Karasjok) ) is a Sami - Norwegian writer , translator and poet .

Eira comes from a family of reindeer herders and worked as a teacher and publishing consultant. She writes poetry, short stories and children's books in the North Sami language , which she has campaigned to preserve in schools. In the 1990s she was chairman of the Sami Writers' Association.

Eira made her debut in 1979 as the editor of the children's book Guovdageainno mánát mainnastit . Her story Gilši - Skilful about the situation of women in reindeer herding appeared on CD in 2012 . Eira's collection of poems Ii dát let dat eana (This is not the earth) takes the form of a monologue in which the Sami mother goddess “Uksáhkká” addresses the people of our time about nature conservation . The book was nominated for the Nordic Council's Literature Prize in 2019 .

Together with other artists, Eira practices the singing art of joiking .
