Hasvik ( Sami Ákŋoluovtta gielda ) is a Norwegian municipality in the province ( Fylke ) Troms og Finnmark . It is located on the western half of Sørøya , Norway's third largest island. The administrative center of the municipality is in Breivikbotn.
Most of the residents are spread across villages on the west coast of the island.
Hasvik Airport is located in the immediate vicinity of the village of Hasvik in the extreme southwest of the island . Hasvik is also connected to mainland Norway by a car ferry to Øksfjord . The crossing takes around two hours.
Due to the decline of the fishing industry, the municipality has recently suffered a steady decline in population.
