In the commune of Lebesby, a sensational treasure was found in a field in the 1920s: The find consists of one large and five smaller gold spiral rings, a flat gold ring and a braided silver bracelet. It has so far been dated to the time 500–600 AD and assigned to West European origin. In the meantime, this dating has been questioned because of the braided silver bracelet, which is typical of the Viking Age in western Scandinavia.
