Kurt Mosbakk

Kurt Mosbakk (born November 21, 1934 in Orkdal ) is a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). From 1986 to 1988 he was his country's trade minister.

education and profession

Mosbakk graduated from the business school in Trondheim in 1954 . Then he attended the Norwegian Business School in Bergen until 1958 . He then worked in various positions as a consultant. In 1961 he traveled through ten African countries on a UNESCO grant . From 1965 to 1966 he was enrolled at Harvard University , for which he had received a scholarship. In 1969 he became office manager at the union federation Landsorganisasjonen i Norge (LO), where he worked until 1974.

He then worked in the administration of the Finnmark Fylkeskommune and was its Fylkesrådmann between 1976 and 1986 . After serving as minister, he became Østfold's Fylkesrådmann in 1988 , which he remained until 1997. He then worked as a special advisor to the province for another two years.

Political career

Mosbakk was involved in the youth organization Arbeidernes Ungdomsfylking (AUF). From 1961 to 1963 he was its chairman in Oslo and then from 1964 to 1967 the deputy chairman at the national level. In 1964, Mosbakk was the personal secretary in the Ministry of Defense. From 1969 to 1974 he was chairman of the Ap in Akershus Province . Between 1971 and 1974 he was a member of the Fylkesting of Akershus and at the same time deputy mayor of Lørenskog municipality . From 1973 to 1977 he was the so-called Vararepresentant in the Norwegian parliament, the Storting . So he would have moved up if party colleagues from his Akershus province were no longer able to exercise their mandate.

On May 9, 1986, he was appointed Minister for Trade and Shipping in the Brundtland II government. He held this office until June 13, 1988.

Awards

In 2006 he received the King's Medal of Merit in Gold.
