Bjarne Mørk-Eidem (born October 4, 1936 in Vega ) is a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). He was his country's fisheries minister from 1986 to 1989 .

Life

Mørk-Eidem attended the state secondary school in Leknes until 1955 . Then he worked as a substitute teacher. From 1958 to 1962 Mørk-Eidem attended the teachers' school in Nesna . He then taught at schools in his home municipality until 1969.

From 1963 to 1971 Mørk-Eidem was a member of the local parliament in Vega. From 1969 until 1993 he represented the province of Nordland in the Norwegian parliament, the Storting . From 1973 to 1977 he was the vice secretary of the Odelsting , one of the then chambers of parliament. From October 1989 to July 1990 he was one of the vice-presidents of the Storting. In addition, he was from 1981 to 1986 and again from 1989 to 1990 member of the parliamentary committee of his party. Between 1973 and 1975 he was chairman of the Ap in Nordland.

On May 9, 1986 Mørk-Eidem was appointed Minister of Fisheries in the Brundtland II government. He held the office until October 10, 1989. From 1990 to 2005 he was the so-called Riksrevisor in the Riksrevisjonen , i.e. chairman of the commission responsible for checking the budget in Storting. Between 1991 and 1999 he was also represented on the executive committee of Vereinigung Norden . In 1995 he held the post of chairman of the Northern Association. From 1991 to 1999 he was also head of the Norwegian part of this association. From 2006 he headed the aquaculture center Norsk Havbrukssenter .
