Government of Brundtland II
The government of Brundtland II formed the government of Norway from May 9, 1986 to October 16, 1989 . After the defeat in a vote of confidence, head of government Kåre Willoch ( Høyre ) resigned and Gro Harlem Brundtland ( workers' party ) formed a new minority government. The government consisted exclusively of members of the Arbeiderpartiet (AP), which had 71 out of 157 seats in parliament.
After the two large parties, the Labor Party and the conservative Høyre, had to accept significant losses of votes in the parliamentary elections in 1989 , a coalition government consisting of Høyre, Christian People's Party and Center was formed under the leadership of Jan P. Syse (Høyre).
