The parliamentary elections in Norway in 1989 took place on September 11, 1989. It was the election for the 55th storting .

The minority government under the social democratic politician Gro Harlem Brundtland , which had existed since 1986, was replaced by the Syse minority government made up of Conservatives , Christian Democrats and Greens after the massive election losses of her SpA , which was overthrown in 1990 by a vote of no confidence in connection with Norway's membership in the European Economic Area . It was followed by the Brundtland III cabinet , again a social democratic minority government.
