Election result

While the governing parties Kristelig Folkeparti and Høyre suffered massive losses, the Labor Party and Progress Party also grew significantly. The Bondevik II government gave way to a red-green coalition of Social Democrats, Socialists and the Center Party. If one disregards the government of the collections during and immediately after the Second World War, the Jens Stoltenberg II government is the first coalition government of a social democratic prime minister ever.
