The general election in Norway in 1961 took place on September 11, 1961. It was the choice for the 48th storting .
The Labor Party suffered a slight loss of votes, which cost it an absolute majority after 16 years. A split-off from the workers' party, the Sosialistisk Folkeparti , was newly represented in the Storting . Your two deputies formed the "tip of the scales" during the legislative period . Høyre gained votes; the Kristelig Folkeparti lost votes but gained seats.
The parliament continued to consist of six parties. The NKP was replaced by the Sosialistisk Folkeparti.
