The general election in Norway in 1949 took place on October 10, 1949. It was the election for the 45th storting .
The Social Democratic Labor Party gained over four percentage points. The right to vote also led to significant over-representation and ensured the Labor Party a clear absolute majority. The Communist Party (NKP) lost all 11 seats, despite a significant share of the vote.
The parliament consisted of only five political groups.
