General election in Norway in 1945
The parliamentary election in Norway in 1945 was the first election after the German occupation and therefore only took place on October 8, 1945. It was the 44th storting election .
The Social Democratic Labor Party , which had governed until the occupation in 1940, won an absolute majority. She was able to win six seats compared to the election nine years ago. Alongside the Labor Party, the Norwegian Communist Party was the biggest winner in the election. After she had not moved into the Storting in 1936, she was able to win 11.9% of the vote and 11 seats in 1945.
The conservative Høyre , on the other hand, had to give up eleven seats , and the farmers' party also lost eight seats.
The parliament, whose term of office had been extended to four years in 1936, now consisted of six parties, with the NKP replacing the Samfunnspartiet.
