The Democrats i Norge (abbreviation DiN ; German Democrats in Norway ) is a right-wing Norwegian splinter party . She is against immigration and against the European Economic Area . The nationalistic undertones are combined with a social redistribution policy and moderate cultural policy ideas.

The party was founded on August 24, 2002 in Oslo. The founding members mainly included former members of the Fremskrittspartiet (Frp). The splinter party Sosialdemokratse , a split from the Pensjonistpartiet, was also involved in the founding .

The excluded from the Frp Storting -Abgeordnete Jan Simonsen joined the rest of the legislative period (until 2005) the Democrats.

The party won 2,706 votes in the 2005 parliamentary elections , 2,285 votes in 2009 and 3,829 votes in 2017 (0.1% each). For the 2013 election, the Democrats failed to submit enough statements of support.

In the local elections in 2011, the party won a Fylkestingmandat (in Vest-Agder ) and a total of eight seats in five municipal councils. Vidar Kleppe was able to defend his seat in the Fylkesting of Vest-Agder in 2015. The municipal mandates melted down to just four seats. In the local elections in 2019, she managed to get three mandates in the Fylkesting of Agder . They also became the third largest party in Kristiansand and are now represented there with ten members on the city council.

The party is opposed to the EU and fears mass immigration from Muslim countries to Norway, which threatens Western values ​​and Christian heritage. Party leader Vidar Kleppe called for the closure of all mosques in Norway that did not publicly distance themselves from terrorism. Amund Garfors, then party leader in Fylke Nordland, called for a general ban on Islam after the terrorist attacks in London in 2005 . The military reserve units Heimevernet would have to be deployed against Muslims in Oslo in the near future, Garfors predicted.

The Bible should be given more space in school lessons ; to this end, the school subject Christianity, Religion, Philosophy of Life and Ethics (KRLE) is to be converted back into Christianity.

The party describes itself as belonging to the right wing. In her party program she writes “Demokratse er et parti med nasjonalistisk grunnsyn” ( German : Democrats is a party with a nationalist view of the world ) and also describes itself as a “national people's party”.
