This is a list of Norway's culture ministers . Ministers of culture have been appointed since 1981, and during the Second World War there was also a Ministry for Culture and Public Enlightenment, which was established by the National Socialists . The current minister of culture has been Abid Raja from the social liberal party Venstre since January 2020 .

Minister of Culture and Public Enlightenment (1940–1945)

After Vidkun Quisling took over the government in Norway from the fascist Nasjonal Samling (NS) on April 9, 1940, the Ministry of Culture and Public Enlightenment ( Kultur- og folkeopplysningsdepartementet NS ) was founded on September 25, 1940 . The ministers from the government are now referred to as "ulovlig minister", ie "illegal minister".

Minister of Culture and Science (1981–1990)

In October 1981 a second ministerial post was created in the Ministry of Churches and Education ( Kirke og undervisningsdepartementet ) for the field of culture and science. Lars Roar Langslet took over the post . On January 1, 1982, this post was transferred to the newly formed Ministry of Culture and Science ( Kultur- og vitenskapsdepartementet ).

Church and Culture Minister (1990–1991)

On January 1, 1990, the Ministry of Culture and Science was restructured into the Ministry of Churches and Culture ( Kirke og Kulturdepartementet ).

Minister of Culture (1991-2002)

On January 1, 1991, church issues were transferred from the Ministry of Churches and Culture to the Ministry of Education and Research. The Ministry of Culture and Culture subsequently became the Ministry of Culture ( Kulturdepartementet ), which existed in this form until the end of 2001.

Culture and Church Minister (2002-2010)

On January 1, 2002, church affairs were reintegrated into the remit of the Ministry of Culture. The Ministry of Culture subsequently became the Ministry of Culture and Churches ( Kultur- og kirkedepartementet ).

Minister of Culture (2010–)

On January 1, 2010, church affairs were again outsourced from the ministry. Now they have become part of the Ministry of Renewal and Administration. The Ministry of Culture and Church has now been renamed the Ministry of Culture ( Kulturdepartementet ). In January 2019, the area of ​​gender equality was transferred from the Ministry of Family Affairs to the Ministry of Culture, while responsibility for church and religion was transferred in return.
