Ellen Horn (2017)

Ellen Horn (* February 1, 1951 as Ellen Stoesen ) is a Norwegian actress , theater director and politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). She was Minister of Culture in the Jens Stoltenberg I government .

Life

Actress and theater director

Horn trained as an actress at the Statens teaterskole in Oslo from 1972 to 1975 . Between 1969 and 1970 and from 1975 to 1981 she was engaged at the Oslo Nye Teater . In 1981 she moved to the Nationaltheatret , where she was on stage until 1992. In 1992 she became the director of the theater, which she remained until 2000. From 2005 to 2015 she headed the Riksteatret . During her time at the theater, she also starred in several TV series and film productions.

Political career

On March 17, 2000, she was appointed Minister of Culture in the cabinet of the new Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg . She held office until the end of the government on October 19, 2001. Between 2003 and 2007, Horn was a city councilor in Oslo.

Private

She was married to jazz musician Jon Christensen until his death . The two are the parents of the jazz musician and actress Emilie Stoesen Christensen. Her daughter Kjersti Horn, a theater director, comes from a previous relationship. Ellen Horn's sister is the actress Christine Stoesen.

In 1999 she was awarded the Order of Saint Olav .
