Thorhild Widvey
Thorhild Widvey (born January 9, 1956 in Avaldsnes , Rogaland ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative party Høyre . She was oil and energy minister from 2004 to 2005 and culture minister from 2013 to 2015 .
Political career
Widvey was a member of Karmøy's local parliament from 1979 to 1989 . Between 1987 and 1989 she was a member of the Fylkesting of Rogaland Province . In 1989 she moved into the Norwegian national parliament , the Storting , for the first time . There she represented the constituency of Rogaland until 1997. From 1993 she was a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee. Her start in politics took place at the same time as and in close contact with Erna Solberg . In 1992 she became vice-chairman of the Norwegian Europe Movement.
After retiring from active politics in 1997, she moved to London with her husband Osvald Bjelland and their two children . They returned to Norway in 2002 and Widvey became Secretary of State in the Fisheries Department and in 2003 in the Foreign Ministry . She was oil and energy minister in the cabinet of Kjell Magne Bondevik from 2004 to 2005 .
From October 2013 to December 2015 she was minister of culture in the Solberg government .
