Jon Georg Dale (born June 16, 1984 ) is a Norwegian politician of the Progress Party (FrP). From December 2015 to August 2018 he was Minister of Agriculture and Food, and then Minister of Transport in his country until January 2020 .

Life

Dale worked in the food industry from 2003 to 2010. Between 2003 and 2013 he sat in the local parliament of Volda . From 2009 to 2011 he was also a member of the Fylkesting in the province of Møre og Romsdal . In 2010 he began his work as political advisor to the FrP group in the Norwegian national parliament in Storting .

State Secretary and Minister

On October 16, 2013, he was appointed State Secretary in the Norwegian Ministry of Transport , which he remained until October 17, 2014. He then took over the post of State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance . Dale was finally appointed Minister of Agriculture and Food in the Solberg government on December 16, 2015, and as Minister of Transport from August 31, 2018. After the leave of absence and the subsequent resignation of Justice Minister Tor Mikkel Wara , he temporarily took over the management of the Ministry of Justice in March 2019. Dale left the government when the FrP left government on January 24, 2020.

Member of Parliament

In the 2017 general election , Dale entered the Norwegian Parliament for the first time for the constituency of Møre og Romsdal . Due to his membership in the government, he had to suspend his mandate until January 2020 and he was represented by party colleagues, so-called Vararepresentanten . On January 29, 2020, he finally became a member of the Energy and Environment Committee. In July 2020 he announced that he did not want to run again for a seat in Storting in the 2021 election .
