Kjell-Børge Freiberg (born April 27, 1971 ) is a Norwegian politician of the right-wing Fremskrittspartiet (FrP). From August 2018 to December 2019 he was Minister for Oil and Energy in the Solberg government .

Life

Freiberg completed an apprenticeship at the state fishing school. He then worked at a fish feed producer in Stokmarknes .

From 1995 to 2015 Freiberg was a member of Hadsel's municipal council . From 2007 to 2015 he was the mayor of the municipality and thus also the first FrP mayor in the province of Nordland . Between October 2015 and June 2017 he worked as State Secretary in the Ministry of Oil and Energy . In the 2017 parliamentary elections , he entered the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , as the top candidate of his party in Nordland .

On August 31, 2018, he succeeded Terje Søviknes as Oil and Energy Minister. He held the post until December 18, 2019, when he left the government because it was his party's wish that Søviknes return to government. Freiberg began again to exercise his mandate in Storting.

Freiberg is a member of the Freemasons .
