The Olje- og energidepartementet (short: OED ) is the Norwegian oil and energy ministry . The main task of the ministry is to create a uniform energy policy . Since January 2020 Tina Bru from the Conservative Party Høyre the oil and energy minister .

history

Former Headquarters of the Ministry after July 22, 2011

The ministry was established in 1978 under the Nordli government , the first minister being Bjartmar Gjerde from the Social Democratic Labor Party . In 1993, the Ministry of Oil and Energy was wound up and incorporated into the Ministry of Economy and Energy ( Nærings- og energidepartementet ), which was given new responsibilities . In October 1996 a second ministerial office was created there, so that there was also an energy minister in addition to the economics minister. On January 1, 1997, the Ministry of Oil and Energy was re-established.

During the terrorist attack on the government district of Oslo , the Regjeringskvartalet , by the right-wing extremist Anders Behring Breivik on July 22, 2011, the headquarters of the ministry was badly damaged. As a result, the ministry had to move and the building was finally demolished in 2019.

The Ministry is the Department of Oil and Gas , the Department of Climate , Industry and Technology , the Department of Energy and Water Resources, and the Department of Economics and Administration. There is also a press office and an international coordination unit. There is a state secretary in the ministry .

The two authorities Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat (NVE) and the Oljedirektoratet are subordinate to the ministry . She is also responsible for managing the holdings of Equinor and the state-owned companies Statnett , Gassnova, Petoro and Gassco.

On January 24, 2020, Tina Bru took over the office of Minister for Oil and Energy from her predecessor, Fremskrittspartiet politician Sylvi Listhaug .
