Anniken Hauglie (born September 10, 1972 ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative Høyre party . From December 2015 to January 2020 she was the Minister for Labor and Social Affairs in the Solberg government .

Life

Hauglie studied political science , philosophy and ethics from 1991 to 1995 and sociology from 1995 to 2000 . Between 2001 and 2010 she worked as a consultant for her party and from 2003 to 2004 for the Norwegian Ministry of Social Affairs.

From 2010 to 2013 Hauglie headed the Health Department of the Oslo City Government ( Byråd ), and then the Department of Science and Education until 2015. On December 16, 2015, she was appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Norway.

NAV scandal

In October 2019, it became known that the NAV authority, which was subordinate to her as Minister of Social Affairs, had been cutting benefits for several years for people without a legal basis and that this resulted in prison sentences. Hauglie was mainly accused by the opposition parties in Storting of waiting too long after the facts became known internally, so that further wrong decisions and judgments could be made. A vote of no confidence initiated by Rødt politician Bjørnar Moxnes against them in November 2019 resulted in only one vote against them in their favor. During the hearings in Storting in January 2020, the Sosialistisk Venstreparti group also spoke out in favor of supporting a vote of no confidence in them. The other opposition parties said they would wait for the hearing to end. On January 24, 2020, she resigned from the government after the Fremskrittspartiet left the government and the cabinet was reshuffled. Hauglie stated that the resignation was at his own request.

On March 31, 2020 it was announced that she would be the new CEO of the employers' association Norsk olje og gass , which advocates the interests of the Norwegian oil industry. She will take over the position of Karl Eirik Schjøtt-Pedersen .

Private

Hauglie is married to the Høyre politician Lars Jacob Hiim and has two children.
