Tord Lien (born September 10, 1975 in Øksnes ) is a Norwegian politician of the Fremskrittspartiet (FrP). From 2013 to 2016 he was oil and energy minister in the Solberg government .

Life

Lien studied history from 1997 to 2003 at the Technical and Natural Sciences University of Norway (NTNU) in Trondheim . Between 2003 and 2005 he was a member of the Trondheim city council. In the parliamentary elections in 2005 , he moved into the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , for the first time . He represented the province of Sør-Trøndelag there until 2013 . He did not run for the 2013 election because he was supposed to take over the position of communications director at the energy supplier TrønderEnergi . However, in October 2013 he was appointed Minister of Oil and Energy and he held that office until December 2016.

When he took office in 2013, it became public that Lien, at the age of 19, had been sentenced to 40 days in prison for causing an accident on a wet road at excessive speed in 1994, in which two people were injured. He had already informed Prime Minister Erna Solberg of the conviction before his appointment as Minister.
